Luke to run Isle of Skye Half Marathon 2026

Feb 8, 2026 | About Luke, Skye Life

On June 13th, I’ll be standing on the start line of the Isle of Skye Half Marathon — and this one means more than most.

It’s my first long distant event since completing the London Marathon in 2022. A lot has changed since then. Most importantly, I’m now six weeks smoke-free again — a decision that’s already transforming not just my running, but my life.

There’s no better place for a comeback than the Isle of Skye, my wonderful workplace. The rugged coastline, the rolling roads, and the island air (maybe some wind and rain) make this one of the most scenic — and challenging — half marathons in Scotland.

Why the Isle of Skye Half Marathon Is So Special

This isn’t a flat, city-centre race. The Skye Half Marathon is really going to test us all.

The terrain rolls. The climbs bite. The wind can be relentless. But the views? Absolutely worth it. Every mile reminds you why you signed up.

Running here isn’t just about chasing a PB. It’s about embracing the challenge and earning every step.

Six Weeks Smoke-Free – A New Chapter

Six weeks ago, I quit smoking again. I had been smoke-free for six years up until 2023, but after my died sadly passed away I lapsed back.

I decided it was time again. That decision wasn’t just about fitness. It was about mindset. About showing up better — for myself and for my family.

Already I can feel the difference. Clearer lungs. Stronger sessions. Faster recovery. More belief.

This race represents more than a comeback. It marks the start of a healthier, stronger chapter.

Running It With My Son Jude

This year, I won’t be running it alone.

I’ll be lining up beside my son, Jude.

We’ll share the miles, the climbs, the views — and no doubt a little pain along the way. But that’s what will make it unforgettable before we’ve even crossed the start line.

These are the moments that matter.

The ones you replay years from now and remember exactly how they felt.

It will be the first event we’ve run side by side since the 15k Aboyne Illuminator in 2023 — and that makes this one even more special.
